Vanessa Richey-Said, a National Sales Manager for the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau, will be inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame on February 12, 2010 at the Alamodome.
Richey-Said’s accomplishments include gold medals at the U.S. Modern Pentathlon National Championships, the U.S. Olympic Festival and the Pan American Modern Pentathlon Championships. She was a high school state champion in swimming and a member of the University of Texas swim team that won four NCAA championships. Other honors include being named U.S. Modern Pentathlon Athlete of the Year and The Women’s Sports Foundation’ s Up and Coming Athlete of the Year. She is also a member of the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame.
Currently Richey-Said specializes in bringing sporting association meetings and events to San Antonio. She has been instrumental in securing events like the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & 1/2 Marathon and NAIA Swimming as well as meetings including the Texas High School Coaches Association. As a San Antonio athlete, Richey-Said is familiar with the city’s numerous sporting venues and facilities.
Being inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame is especially momentous for Richey-Said who devoted 10 years as a planner and organizer for San Antonio Sports, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing premier sporting events to San Antonio and delivering sporting and fitness programs to area children.
