Foodies

One must-experience is San Antonio’s burgeoning culinary scene. While our famous Tex-Mex is still a staple, the city’s unique blend of cultures has created dishes that are rich with tradition and brimming with innovation. With the Culinary Institute of America’s new restaurant at Pearl, diverse options along the River Walk and home-grown eateries founded by local chefs sprinkled throughout the city, there is something for every palate.  You can even sign up for cooking classes at the Culinary Institute of America—San Antonio, located in the revitalized Pearl Brewery.  Founded in 1881 by the San Antonio Brewing Association as the home of Pearl Beer, today the old brewery has been transformed into a vibrant neighborhood where locals like to get together – to eat, drink, shop and play at some of San Antonio finest new establishments.   Located at the head of the San Antonio River Walk, the Pearl offers unique and nationally recognized brew pubs and restaurants.

For a city so full of great dining experiences, there are new kids on the block and the tried and true that makes San Antonio a culinary buffet. We have many places to choose from, but here are some notable new openings to try: Southerleigh, Starfish, Cured, Hot Joy, El Machito, Mixtli.
