After-Dark Activities

The sun is checking out for the day. But the kids are still restless. What other family fun can you squeeze in before the eyelids finally drop?

The answer: plenty!

During the Summer

The Saga is a world-class video art installation on the façade of the San Fernando Cathedral, the oldest operating sanctuary in North America. Experience this breathtaking visual journey through the history of San Antonio, with free shows every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9 p.m., 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

On Downtown's River Walk

The Arneson River Theatre is the scene of many extravaganzas. Among the most colorful is the Alamo Kiwanis Club's folkloric song and dance production of Fiesta Noche del Rio and the Parks and Recreation Department's ¡BRAVO! An Evening of Song and Dance showcasing Mexican folklorico and flamenco students.

From Spectacular to Spooktacular

There are ghost tours available, each leaving from the Alamo Plaza area.  Dressed in period costumes, your Sisters Grimm Ghost Tours guides will light the way with lanterns through the strange and unusual tales of centuries past, legendary stories, folklore and ghostly experiences. Alamo City Ghost Tours can take you to historic cemeteries, plus 13 “haunted” locations. Ghost Hunts of San Antonio Tour boasts “the latest in modern ghost hunting equipment.” Ripley's Haunted Adventure is a haunted house open year-round with live actors and special effects.

Spooky to Some, Fascinating to Others

On select nights the San Antonio River Authority hosts Bat Loco in which you bring lawn chairs and watch the dusk departure of hundreds of bats into the night sky from the Interstate 35 overpass at Camden Street. An impressive alternative is the Old Tunnel near Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country.

Grab Your Blankets and Lawn Chairs

Come out to free Movies by Moonlight, starting at dusk each Tuesday in June & July in Travis Park. Snacks and drinks are available and nearby parking is free. Or grab an inner tube and soak in a wave pool at the Dive In Movie on Friday nights at Splashtown.

You Can Catch Nighttime Extravaganzas

Six Flags Fiesta Texas holds concerts and projects a spectacular laser and fireworks show onto a quarry wall; and at SeaWorld San Antonio, with its Summer Nights encores on some of the theme park's biggest acts.
