Luminaria: November 10-11, 2017

Luminaria is an evening public arts festival that draws over 30,000 people annually to various San Antonio neighborhoods to celebrate the arts. It is free of charge and family-centric. Expect to be immersed in music, dance, film, literary arts, theater and visual arts.

This year, exprience art, history and culture in Downtown San Antonio. Hemisfair, The Magik Theatre, the Instituto Cultural de México, UNAM, and the San Antonio Riverwalk come alive with Luminaria's audience.

Artists from San Antonio and all over the country create dramatic stage performances, magical streetscapes, dazzling light installations and galleries filled with surprising treasures. Local chefs and restaurants serve festival-goers from their mobile kitchens.

The word Luminaria refers to a traditional light or lantern popular in Latino cultures and ubiquitous in San Antonio. The notions of illumination, energy, warmth, movement and tradition inspired by this icon are integral to the Luminaria event, which features works of art based on the general theme of light.
