Located steps from the River Walk north of downtown and easily accessible by street trolley, the Central Library is a destination for both San Antonians and visitors to the city. With its vibrant red color (officially titled Enchilada Red after a name that color contest run by the local Express-News newspaper) and geometric design features, the six-story, 240,000-square foot structure by renowned architect Ricardo Legoretta adds a dynamic element to the city’s skyline. The Central Library’s spaciousness and striking architectural features make it a desirable location for photo shoots, television commercials and film productions. The building was a location set for Selena and was prominently featured in the box office hit Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams.
